Spotlight on Cornerstone's Youth Actors Program, April, 2010
At Cornerstone Youth Theatre we believe that participating in drama is about more than the art of drama itself. By participating in the performing arts students develop communication skills, increase their ability to solve everyday problems creatively, and learn how to work with others to achieve a common goal. In our classes, workshops and productions we strive to create a supportive environment where we encourage each student to collaborate to create new works and develop new ideas in addition to giving them the freedom to unleash their creativity and awaken their inner artist.

Lia Wright, Theatre Education Director, at Cornerstone, received her bachelor’s degree in Theatre from Middle Tennessee State University. She moved to the Boston area in 2007 from Sewanee, Tennessee, where she taught theatre at St. Andrew’s Sewanee School. Before becoming the Director of Theatre Education at Cornerstone Performing Arts Center, she taught at Watertown Children’s Theatre, North Shore Music Theatre and Codman Academy. A firm believer in the adage, “those who can do teach,” she continues to perform professionally throughout New England with companies such as Make Shift Theatre Company, The Winnipesaukee Playhouse, and Fort Point Theatre Channel as well as here at Cornerstone Performing Arts Center, where in addition to her position in the theatre education department she is a member of the professional acting company. Her most recent roles include Laura in The Glass Menagerie, Lydia in Pride and Prejudice, and Elierie in A Child’s Christmas in Wales.
